The “First Virtual Congress on Technological Innovation for Public Health, Epidemiological Intelligence and Global Surveillance” will take place in Panama City on August 7 and 8, 2013 from 8 am to 4:00 pm EST (UTC/GMT -5) at the Virtual Classroom of the Convention Center of the City of Knowledge. It will be broadcasted live through web streaming in Spanish and English with simultaneous translation. The event aims at broadly disseminating to a multi-professional crowd, different ways in which technology is being used around the world to enhance the response to health and development challenges. Global experts will present examples of the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), mobile media-rich approaches and biotechnology to identify and face new epidemics, strengthen national information systems and promote the access to information, training and health services in hard-to-reach areas.
